The Big Champ…..The Meaning!
I always thought that the day my boy was born I would feel like a dad, however the reality was I didn’t truly feel the meaning until a few years later. This feeling is different from loving someone, as the first day I saw by boy I felt love.
In my life so far, there have been two distinct moments when I truly felt the meaning of DAD. When my boy was 3 he woke up late one night crying as he had a bad dream. I had bad day myself and was also having a restless night. So I went to settle him back to sleep.
He insisted that I lay with him, so we laid together with our foreheads touching. He finally closed his eyes and in that moment my 3 year old reached over with his right arm and started to rub my back as if to say, “it’s alright dad, things will be ok”.
More recently, my boy and I were having a great day playing basketball outside. He looked up to me with a massive smile and an enormous amount of excitement and said to me……hey dad…..YA BIG CHAMP.
As if to say you’re my hero and I love you.
As men we often find it hard to find the words and rarely show emotion. So I decided to share the message of YA BIG CHAMP, so others can tell their hero’s they love, care and admire them.
So tell them………..YA BIG CHAMP
